Trendy Clothes To Flaunt At Oktoberfest 2016

Oktoberfest is the German festival of celebrating beer that takes place in the last two weeks of September and first week of October. It started off as the celebration of the wedding of King Ludwin and Princess Therese in the year 1810. The festivities were open to the citizens of Munich, and not a drop of beer was wasted. Over the years, the event has evolved into the revelry we see today.

Every year, Oktoberfest is celebrated with music, food and, of course, freshly brewed beer. People choose to wear the traditional clothes (i.e., the dirndl for women and lederhosen for men) rather than following fashion trends. Conducted between 17th September and 3rd October this year, it is a much awaited festival for beer lovers around the world, including celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

If you are participating in the fun and frolic, you need to look the part. From traditional fashion clothes to modern-day festival wear, here is a guide of what to wear to Oktoberfest this year.

1) Dirndl

 1-min

If you want to wear traditional fashion clothes for the beer festival, your best choice is the dirndl. A dirndl is a costume based on the clothing of the Alps peasants from Austria and Bavaria. It consists of a fitted bodice with a flared skirt worn over a blouse, with an apron to complete the look. The term dirndl originally referred to a young woman or a girl.

Dirndl Skirt

The crafting of the skirt depends on the weather. In summers it features bright colors and lightweight fabric, and in winters it is made of and heavy weight fabrics in rich shades. Common fabrics used are cotton, linen, velvet and wool.

Accessories

These may include a long apron tied around the waist, a waistcoat, or a wool shawl. The aprons are made of vibrantly-colored, hand printed-silk fabrics. You could also sport necklaces, earrings and brooches made of silver, antlers of deer or even animal teeth. In cold weather, add thick coats.

2) Co-ordinated Separates

 2-min

Pair your favorite printed mini skirt with a matching crop top and become a fashion trendsetter at Oktoberfest. Keep your hair loose or in a messy bun, throw on some round sunglasses and you are ready to dazzle. Accessorize your trendy clothes with a sleek sling bag, and bug danglers.

3) Tone-On-Tone

3-min

Play with hot fashion trends by wearing a tone-on-tone combination. Team up your chic fashion tops with lacey shorts. Alternatively, you could wear a tie-dyed romper for a stylish look. Accessorize the outfit with a statement necklace, multi-colored bangles, cool aviators and low-heeled boots.

4) Relaxed Chic

4-min

Team a sleeveless top with contrasting bottoms and tie your favorite denim shirt around your waist. Bolt your hair in a high pony and accessorize with sparkling studs and boots. Carry a stylish shoulder bag (embellished or plain, both work). Finish with a choker and set a stunning new fashion trend.
