The New Cool
Forget stiff jackets, pleated skirts and shift dresses — the new trend for 2015 is all about movement, fluidity and most of all, comfort. We show you how to dress for comfort without compromising on your style for different occasions.
Weekend chic: Nothing says relaxed like a pair of palazzo pants or a bohemian flowing skirt. Pair it with a simple spaghetti top or tee, layer it with a few chains, add a bracelet and you’re ready for the weekend. If you need to jazz up the look for a night out, opt for fluid pants in a deeper colour and wear a pair of wedges to nail the look.
Girls night out: When it comes to a girls night out, you want to stay comfortable and of course, you want the other girls to notice your look. For such occasions, it’s ideal to wear a dress with an interesting drape. If you are pear shaped, choose a dress in a flowing material that is fitted on top and gracefully skims your hips. If you have a boyish figure, then show off your slim waist by belting the dress. For those with fuller figures, skip the rigid materials and choose a lightweight dress as that will help you look slimmer.
Indian wedding: Anarkalis are the perfect choice of Indian wear as it is high on comfort — and the best part — you don’t have to hold your stomach in all evening! But at times, with the wrong material, it can tend to look bulky and add pounds to your look thanks to the stiff material used. To counteract this effect, opt for a breathable fabric in a solid colour. Add an interesting touch by choosing a patterned dupatta and blinged out slippers.

Running errands: There are times when hectic schedules cause fashion to take a backseat because comfort comes first. But, we’re showing you how to combine the two with a few simple tweaks. While you’re running errands, make sure the clothes you wear are soft and breathable. Skip the figure hugging tops and opt for looser ones in cool shades that allow for movement. Pair these with shorts, cropped trousers and midi-skirts. But, keep the colours vibrant — colour blocking is an easy way to jazz up a simple look. Great combinations include teal and pink, orange and pink, white and blue and lime green and navy.
Date night: You want to make an impression but you want to leave something to the imagination too. Your best bet is a classic little black dress and black is anything but boring when you know what kind to pick. Skip the stiff shift dresses or elaborate gowns and instead, choose a fit and flare dress that offers movement so that you can ensure you have a good time, just in case dinner and drinks ends with a little dancing. Stick to knee length dresses and pair it with black sandals and statement earrings. If you’re a little adventurous, try coloured shoes but hold back on too much bling.
As you can see, opting for comfort doesn’t mean compromising on your style quotient. Turns out, you can have your cake and eat it too!
