We Grew Up Watching Beauty Pageants and Here’s What Makes It Special
With a bowl of popcorn in one hand and dreams of wearing the crown – we would beg our parents to let us stay awake till late just to watch the beauty pageants live on television. Our eyes would be glued to the screen staring at the stunning gowns, the captivating confidence of the contestants, the poised Q&A rounds and the crowning ceremony.
From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Priyanka Chopra Jonas, we’ve seen some of the most poised women make a mark. With the recent announcement of the Liva Miss Diva 2020 pageants, we got nostalgic for all the reasons why these pageants will forever remain a special part of our childhood. Here are some of the important life lessons they taught us:
Beauty with Brains
Being beautiful is not a life skill, but being aware of your surroundings, having opinions and a goal is what makes your personality stand out. The numerous Q&A sessions were a strong reminder of the same. The grace with which you handle the curveball life throws at you is what makes you beautiful inside and out.
Confidence is the KEY
There is no denying that a confident woman is the most beautiful one! She is self-assured, focused and happy. The grace and poise with which these women walk down the ramp are not achieved by being a bundle of nerves, but by being confident about your body and yourself.
It takes a Team!
Watching behind-the-scenes training sessions is a good reminder that no one wakes up looking that beautiful. It takes a team – from hair & makeup to designers. So the next time you think that you don’t match some unrealistic beauty standards, remember that!
Fix each other’s Crown
The beauty pageants were a beautiful reminder of how good we can be to each other. From fixing each other’s crown to laughing and crying together, it’s these little things that make you a beautiful human being.
For those of you still waiting for the crown to land on your head, here’s the perfect chance – Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta along with reigning Miss Diva Universe Vartika Singh would be mentoring the contestants for the upcoming pageants. The winner of LIVA Miss Diva 2020 will represent India at the esteemed global platform Miss Universe 2020 and LIVA Miss Diva Supranational 2020 will represent the country at the Miss Supranational 2020. Apart from fame and glory, the winner also stands a chance to take home prizes in cash and kind, running up to 10 lacs.
Over the next one month, the auditions will unfold in eleven cities – Lucknow, Kolkata, Indore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Delhi and Mumbai – where aspirant divas from across the country can come to transform their dreams to reality. The chosen ones from these cities will arrive at Mumbai for the final auditions trailed by 4 city preliminary media tours in Jaipur, Bangalore, Delhi and Bombay complimented by various sub-contests which shall culminate into thematic evenings.
Lara Dutta, in conjunction with an illustrious set of panelists and judges, will cherry-pick the contestants and judge them on various parameters. Through the course of the pageant, each finalist will undergo extensive training & grooming to hone them for the Grand Finale where the next LIVA Miss Diva 2020 will be crowned in February.
