You see all denim outfits wherever it is you go now days.
Whether they are denim dresses, jeans with denim shirts, denim skirts with denim jackets or just denim shorts with denim accessories, denim is hard to miss now days. Not that it was a forgotten fabric till last year. With the 60’s being showcased with a bang in 2015, the 70’s and the 90 have made their presence felt too. The shows and celebrities showcased bell bottoms, flair jeans and short and wide palazzo type pants.
However, the 2015 trend is more chic and more fitting than the loose trend of the hippie 70’s. Flair jeans are difficult to style and pull off since we are so used to the skinny versions. But what if we tell you that the flair versions make you look slimmer and taller? It is true. The wide legged denim trouser is not as outrageous as its 90’s counterpart.
High waisted Trend- More towards the authentic 70’s, the high waisted bell bottom jeans are the ones which end just at the belly button or are slightly higher. With everything high waisted this year (including shorts and skirts), wear loose crop top in lace which shows off little skin and still looks summer friendly and chic. You can also sport it with a well fitting camisole.
Low Waisted Trend- Hipsters and low rise jeans were a rage back then and it looks like the same bell bottoms are making a major comeback now. Jeans which sit low on your back and just at the hips look really good when worn with sleeved, fitted crop top or a fitting round neck t- shirt.
Hem- With bell bottoms, the hem becomes a bit of a problem to figure. Bell bottoms have to be always worn with heels. Take your most comfortable or the most used pair and wear the jeans over them. Always remember, the hem has to cover the heel from behind though a little bit of the toe can be seen. Block heels and platform heels look really good with bell bottoms.
Boho- For a more Boho look? You can wear a pair of denim bell bottoms with a white top with ruffles and loose sleeves? Pair it with tan heels and keep the accessories minimalistic. A fringed suede bag will clinch the look.
Business Casual- Opt for denim trousers in the bell bottom style with a crisp white shirt. Wear a jacket/ blazer with pumps, belt and neutral accessories such as a neutral tones bag.
Palazzos- Denim short and wide oozes out cool and summer friendly unlike any other trend. A trend popular in the 90’s with at least 50 cms of diameter at the bottom, this trend is slightly more subdued in the 2015’s. These denim trousers look like a midi denim skirt whilst standing still and look amazing even when they reveal their true form. Wear it with a boxy but fitted t shirt for a casual tomboy look and wear it blingy flatform sneakers and stacks of black bands on the wrist.
Patchwork and ripped versions are fast gaining popularity in the denim bell bottoms and the palazzos circuit. But as they say, fashion always reinvents itself and it is a crime to throw anything out which was not cool after a year because the trend will come back by default.
