When Kangana’s Gown Became Talk Of The Town!
Breaking past the presumed stereotypes and walking down with her dazzling aura, the ‘Queen’ from Bollywood struck everyone with awe during the 62nd National Awards ceremony, early in May.
Kangana made her appearance at the ceremony wearing a body-hugging mauve gown. Her lilac attire was designed by New York-based Indian designer Bibhu Mohapatra. The designer gained mass popularity when US first lady Michelle Obama wore her collection during her visit to India in Jan 2015. And now, the designer has surely magnetized double the attention with Kangana’s mauve gown.
The ever-so-famous pastel-shade dress had slit at the back had a long cape which made millions drool over. To top it, Kangana dazzled the audience with her bewitching looks. She had excellently matched her attire with her hair tied up in a bun and dark maroon lipstick. There just couldn’t be any difference of opinion that this beauty-‘queen’ stole the entire show!
However, this was not Kangana’s first appearance at the National Award Ceremony. Kangana had received an award for the Best Supporting Actress for the movie Fashion in 2008. She had then worn an Anarkali suit. Needless to say, that the gorgeous young lady carried it as beautifully and elegantly as she always does! Despite her grace charming all of us, Miss ‘Queen’ seemed a bit upset over her pic in the traditional suit. Winning a National Award is an extremely prestigious achievement and the gorgeous girl wanted to capture it as perfectly possible. Hence, she bid adieu to the cliché of wearing traditional and rather chose an attractive way out.
Other Bollywood actresses, including Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra too had earlier bagged the National Award as Best Actresses in their movies ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Fashion’ respectively. However, they too had chosen saris for the event. On being questioned by everyone why Kangana chose this ultramodern way out, the actress quoted: “Everyone said that you can’t wear Bibhu Mohapatra with a cape and go to this ceremony. But I was adamant. I said, ‘I don’t care! I want a good picture! Although, it was quite a task to smuggle a cape to the venue, I finally got that ‘good photograph’ from the ceremony.”
Indeed, she wanted to look like a star and she very well managed to. Although Kangana manages to pull off every look with great ease, the mauve gown was just added a whole new chapter to her ravishing style and fascinating stardom.
Not that this ‘queen’-like look of hers was a very profound reason to raise eyebrows, but the fact that this diva highlighted her uniqueness through her distinguished style statement, attracted a lot more attention.
