Delicate In Lace
Fashion shows during the weeks of showcasing the upcoming trends do tend to get a tad monotonous especially if the trends in question are not wearable. But every once in a while comes a trend which is so wearable that you will wish it never comes in the category of ‘so yesterday’.
Lace is the one such trend for S/S 2015. Lace, in all its elegance, with laser cut work looked as delicate and feminine as a lady of the British royalty in the 1920’s. Each designer showcased his/her different take on the fabric and it resulted in some outstanding pieces which are very much wearable.
Tops– Crop tops went to a whole different level with lace and abstract cut patterns. Extremely roomy and lose, these crop tops look perfect for the summer heat.
Dresses– Lace dresses took a chic bohemian turn with abstract laser cuts all over. They weren’t, however, confined to just white. Colorful pieces turned up on the ramp too in a complete blending of different colours and not restricted to just one. The dresses weren’t just knee length. Maxi dresses made their presence felt too. Gorgeous floor length lace dresses in black and white made them the perfect go to outfit for a cocktail evening on a warm summer’s night.
Skirts– Mini, midi and maxi strutted around on the catwalk in lace. All lengths acceptable this season, lace pencil skirts didn’t lag far behind. A refreshing change from the regular pencil skirts, the lace ones definitely made heads turn.
Lace shorts, transparent/ sheer lace dresses, sheer lace skirts, lace wedding dresses, lace side patterns on leather skinny trousers- these were just the few of the pieces showcased on the runway. You name and it was definitely there in the fashion week.
This beautiful spring got personified with an equally beautiful and an extremely versatile fabric- lace. Contrary to the popular belief, lace in different colours looked equally chic and elegant as a piece made of white lace. Combining the fabric with leather and hounds-tooth was common place during the fashion weeks for this season which just goes to show that though versatile, lace can hold its own!
