Black never did really leave the fashion scene.

Like a beauty pageant winner, it kept passing on the crown every season, every year. But it seems that this time, the designers couldn’t keep away and ignore this deep, dark colour.
The runways were swamped with designers aiming for an all black look. In some shows collections after collections were dedicated their pieces to this colour. Trying to achieve the sad/ depressed mood, the designers succeeded in getting the colour back as the IT one.
Sure black has its own properties of making one look slim and the basic fact that it pairs well with any and every colour (this does not hold true for brown though. Brown and black is never a good combination). Black was not just restricted to trousers and dresses. Designers showcased-
Dresses – The slinky black maxi numbers made waves at the runway, getting the ‘black dress’ back with a bang. Sheer and lace LBDs made their presence felt as well.

Skirts– Skirts were all the rage; be it in leather or a more elegant fabric such as sheer.

Fusions Pieces– A velvet dress with a trouser waist was a very different sight to be noticed on the runway.

Tops– Crop tops, sheer tops, jackets, shrugs and shaggy coats all in black were a pleasant change to be seen after all the floral and the hues from the collections.

However, black did manage to combine itself with another equally great colour, though it is its complete opposite- White! Black and white was showcased to their fullest extent together as ‘monochrome’; it was not always showcased as black and white stripes or prints – a simple black play-suit and a fringed white jacket did the trick as well.

Black can never ever get out of style or be ‘so last season’. Black is more of a fashion choice than a fashion trend. Some ladies swear by a delicate black maxi gown and some swear by a gorgeous pair of black shoes.
