Don’t we love to take a lot of interest in sartorial topics, especially the ones that keep us hopeful and cheerful given this seemingly dull Spring-Summer?
There are numerous trends to track with every season that rolls past and staying atop can be a task. However, what could help is if a fashionable friend guided us through it all and gave us tidbits from their style scrapbook. We took that into account and got celebrity stylist Tanumita Ghosh, fashion blogger Sumedha Sharma, and fashion artist and blogger Deepen Sharma, to tell us how to rock certain raging trends this season. These 3 fashion musketeers also are the Myntra Fashion Superstar’s winners so you can be sure that the advice churned out will be well-grounded and from the horse’s mouth itself.
Read on to know their thoughts first-hand.
- What do you think are the 3 major trends this S/S ‘20?
Tanumita: When it comes to summer clothes for women, they have to be monochrome looks, sheer dresses, and statement sleeves.
Sumedha: Vintage detailing like shoulder pads are back along with earthy and pastel tones and we will see a lot more business casuals everywhere.
Deepen: My top 3 picks would be oversized t-shirts, the ’70s, and crafty detailing for sure.
- Tell us one foolproof tip to rock the head-to-toe pastels trend?
Tanumita: Choose one pastel tone while keeping the rest of the look simple with minimal accessories.
Sumedha: When it comes to head-to-toe looks, opt for monochrome ensembles and two complementary pastels also is a hit.
Deepen: Pay attention to the undertone of your skin. Warm undertones should root for pastels in pinks or yellows whereas the cooler ones can go for lilac and mint hues.
- Talking about the metallic shine + glossy trend, which item of clothing would you suggest one opts for when someone’s a fashion rookie?
Tanumita: (instinctively) A skirt!
Sumedha: Stick to basics with hints of glossy to add that edge
Deepen: A metallic top is always a safe bet and an add on to your wardrobe if you’re a rookie.
- What are your thoughts about sustainable fashion? And what can one do at home to support the movement?
Tanumita: We should be aware of where our clothes are coming from and how it impacts the environment. Figuring how to DIY or revamp your old clothes is something you can do at home to support ethical fashion.
Sumedha: People can do a lot about it being at home. The most common being upcycling old clothes. I usually start snipping old clothes and upcycling them as per the new trends.
Deepen: Sustainable fashion is not a trend, it IS a lifestyle. One can upcycle it by turning t-shirts into crop tops and using the leftover fabric as patchwork or collecting the scrapes and donating them to brands that are carbon footprint conscious.
- One style tip to wear prints on prints?
Tanumita: Opt for prints you are comfortable with and start with smaller prints. If you think it’s too much add a solid color bag or belt maybe to give a break to your outfit! Always works.
Sumedha: One can wear the top and bottom made out of the same print aka co-ords.
Deepen: Ranveer Singh is my spirit animal. I’m all in for maximalism and I feel mixing different prints like polka dots and stripes or different kinds of animal prints really go well together and make you stand out.
And, those were the inputs from the fashion-conscious lot, giving you their two cents about what’s trendy, what to lay emphasis on when you adorn pastels and much more. Now all that’s left to do is to embrace this season with open arms and make your own versions of the Spring-Summer fashion 2020.
